Adolescent Services
The adolescent curriculum focuses on three main areas:
· adolescent
general health and health education,
· psychosocial
health, and
· pregnancy.
The program operates out of two
school-based health centers in Dona Ana County and the
adolescent clinic at the Family Medicine Clinic.
Masters in Public
Health
Southern New Mexico Family Medicine
residents in good standing may start work towards an MPH at
New Mexico State University here in Las Cruces. Tuition is
paid for by the residency program. We anticipate most
residents will be better than half way through the MPH by
the end of their three years of residency and may finish at
our expense if they stay in the community.
Community Medicine
We have a very strong curriculum in this discipline.
Residents spend a significant amount of time working with
the local Department of Health and the two local Federally
Qualified Health Centers.
Integrated Behavioral
Medicine
The behavioral health curriculum offers
an integrated approach to health care through didactics and
collaborative training with behavioral health graduate
students.
HIV/Hepatitis C
Our faculty work closely with Camino de Vida, the local HIV
agency, and we care for over half of the HIV patients in
Dona Ana County. We are also one of two clinics in Southern
New Mexico offering Department of Health-based Hepatitis C
treatment.
